SwimRun Rheinsberg

Traveling Sustainably Together to SwimRun Rheinsberg

Sustainability starts with the journey

SwimRun Rheinsberg is not only about athletic challenges and team spirit, but above all about a breathtaking natural setting. The lakes, forests, and unique atmosphere make this event a truly special experience — and one we want to preserve for the future.

An important aspect of this is the event’s environmental footprint. The largest share of emissions is caused by participants traveling to and from the event. At the same time, it is of course clear that everyone has to get to Rheinsberg somehow, because without you, this event would not exist. That is exactly why the goal is not to avoid participating, but rather to make the journey as environmentally friendly as possible.

Why low-emission travel matters

The emissions generated by traveling to the event not only affect the event’s environmental footprint, but also contribute to climate change. Events like SwimRun Rheinsberg, which are so closely connected to nature, forests, and water, are particularly affected by its consequences. More frequent extreme weather events such as intense heat or thunderstorms can make conditions more challenging for participants and increase risks such as exhaustion or high UV exposure. Rising water temperatures also impact the lake landscape, for example through an increase in (blue-green) algae. This makes it all the more important for all of us to take responsibility together and reduce emissions related to the event as much as possible.

Getting to SwimRun Rheinsberg: train travel and carpooling

One simple and effective option is to form carpools. When several people travel together, emissions can be significantly reduced. At the same time, it is simply more fun: you meet new people, exchange ideas, and get into the race spirit together — turning the journey itself into part of the experience.

Traveling by train is also a great alternative. You can comfortably travel to Rheinsberg station by rail. From there, it is only about a 20-minute walk to the SwimRun Rheinsberg event area. You can plan the connection that best suits your race individually — and there are often more options than you might initially expect.

Of course, everyone should check suitable travel connections in advance according to their individual start time.

Taking responsibility together

Let’s work together to ensure that SwimRun Rheinsberg can continue to take place in this beautiful environment for years to come. Even small actions can help reduce emissions and make the event more sustainable.
